Sans' eyesockets widen further, and he makes a strangled little sound of surprise. That's a gun. He's had a gun pointed at him before, but...somehow he can tell from here that this one is different. It seems more solid, more real, and infinity more deadly.
Fortunately, Sans can be faster than a bullet under the right circumstances, and doesn't even need to be entirely conscious of the danger to accomplish as much. He just needs to be mostly conscious of it, and that's not a problem with something like Adam in front of him. Besides, these bullets are just...things. No intentions behind them, no soul. So at this distance, they have no chance of reaching him.
Adam will see Sans seem to slide through space, fast enough to blur, and yet he doesn't seem to take a step. When the moment of twisting space ends, once the bullets have passed harmlessly by him, Sans is standing right back where he was with the skulls at the ready. The skeleton's eyesockets are empty now, two pools of shadow made even deeper by the light building in the blasters.
"Bye."
They both fire, twin beams of searing light hitting Adam squarely.
But to Adam, the light will feel no more painful than briefly scalding his hand on a hot pan.
