When was the last time he ate? Two days ago? No, yesterday, he choked down a granola bar he'd found buried beneath some paperwork. Stale, perhaps, but enough to keep him going. He hasn't slept in more than that, but the science building has copious amounts of coffee even for Gotham University standards.

The demonstration is in four days.

Edward's done all he can. Julie too, though she's spent more time in the wheres and whens over the whys and hows. That's entirely his job. And he's done well, as always.

Nonetheless, he hasn't gone back to his room except to shower, double- and triple-checking his bio-harddrives.

That's what he's doing now, hunched over the lab table and going over the circuitry in front of him, then shutting his eyes to do it again, in his head.

They're fine. (He's fine.)

Of course they are. He's done something everyone called beyond impossible. His work is perfect, and it's performed perfectly for months. This is only the confirmation.

It's fine. It's perfect. All of it. From function to design to size.

...He keeps telling himself this, over and over, until the litany turns into disconnected noises inside his brain. The coffee's gone cold on the counter beside him. His bio-harddrive slides to the cool table below.

And Edward Nygma isn't awake to notice the world shifting around him.

Now there's a man in a labcoat with his face resting among the ballroom's cakes. Maybe someone should wake him before he moves his head and gets frosting in his hair?

Waylon's been hiding out, partially because of fear but mostly because of shame. He hasn't tried to make friends, or make amends, and all in all it's left him lonely and unhappy. In Gotham he had the rogues; in Arkham, he had the guards, and occasionally a cellmate to torment.
He's forgotten what happened the last Halloween. That's why it comes as a shock to him when he wakes up much larger, and now with wings. He's a dragon again; large enough to fill a room, but luckily this time he fell asleep in a room with a window to a balcony. He wings down to the gardens and lands solidly, heavily, and then starts to walk around aimlessly.
He doubts they've forgotten what he did; but with all the transformations occurring here, perhaps they'll overlook it and he can move on.

Let Fly

The castle courtyard might not be the safest place to be today.

Not because there are any particularly malignant forces on the loose, but because Bruce recently woke up in the castle with no idea of where he was or how he came to be there. And in order to get even a slightly better idea of where he is, he's attempting to fly around and scout out the area from above.

Unfortunately, Bruce at age fourteen is considerably less adept at flying than Bruce at age twenty-eight.

Every now and then someone in the courtyard might hear a loud fwump as Bruce miscalculates his flight path, gets hit by a strong gust of wind, or tries to dodge a bit of architecture or a tree, resulting in him toppling out of the air and landing heavily in a snowbank, sending flakes flying everywhere.

But to Bruce's credit, as heavy as the impacts might be he always stands up, shakes off the worst of the snow, and launches himself into the air again.

In the meantime, the courtyard is becoming increasingly littered with snow craters.

note: due to not wanting to hurt myself too much emotionally, narration will be correct. aaron still looks very much like not a boy though.

He wakes up somewhere he's never seen before. He's not even in a bed-- he's in a pile of blankets in what appears to be a giant library. There's a backpack next to him, a sketchpad filled with notes, and...

nothing much else. He picks himself off of the blankets and adjusts his shirt, and then makes his way out of the library and through the halls. It's early morning, early enough that the sun isn't gracing the horizon in more than a pale blue glow visible through the windows. Handling stairs is a struggle, as always, with his bandages-- he manages to reach each open room with little more than strained breath. He ends up in the kitchen. No surprises there; it's warm and as clean as a castle kitchen can get, and it's more likely people will filter in throughout the day. He grabs himself a cup of some sort of juice (cranberry, a sip confirms) and sits himself down on a stool in the corner, and waits.

(( takes place immediately after this thread. which is still ongoing, but. ))

When the Batman staggers into the Castle, one arm wrapped around his ribs, his teeth are bared in a silent snarl and his eyes are alert and piercingly bright. His expression is nothing short of murderous, and it isn't hard to guess why.

He's a mess; wet from the top of his wings to ends of his toes, streaming dirty water in a trail following him through the castle hallways. His fur below the chest is slick with mud, and bloody claw marks mar various spots on his body.

Obviously, the fight with Croc didn't turn out in his favor.

That doesn't mean he's ready to collapse in a corner to lick his wounds just yet, however; Batman hasn't seen Frisk ever since the kid got away from the fight, and his first priority is making sure that they're safe and sound. And that Killer Croc didn't catch up with them.

But since his second priority is making sure that the residents are aware there's a giant, man-eating crocodile person on the loose, Batman makes sure to stop whenever he sees anyone, to give them the short of the story.

A . (for your character to end up a snack or escape and spread the word; indicate which in your subject line!)

He’s found the underwater lake. It’s nice, for the most part, but just like the fish in the river the fare is disappointingly slimy and unappetizing. Seeing as he hasn’t found the kitchen yet (a shame!)  he turns to the next source of food—those wandering about the castle. The first to go is a small white cat lazing about on a chair; tufts of fur remain on the floor, and he continues on. The castle is large enough to  send him on af ew circles; but finally, he sees someone down a hall, and makes his lumbering way towards them.

B. (for your character to lay a beatdown on Croc, or for Croc to lay a beatdown on your character….)

He takes to roaming the halls during the night. It’s quieter, the birds are asleep, he has free rein; it’s daresay, nice. He’s still angry. It bubbles up in his chest like a red foam, leads to clawmarks being engraved in the stone, chairs turned on their head or otherwise made into splinters.

Croc is a simple man, sometimes. Sometimes he likes to scheme and plot, and finds himself quite adept at that! Other times… well, other times, someone’s just gotta get their head caved in. Said someone is going to find a big, scaled surprise in the library.

Croc wakes up, snout in the mud.

It's not a pretty awakening. Tranquilizers just wearing off, his mouth feels like cotton's been stuffed inside of it and his head aches with the force of a hundred angry bees. So he does what any self-respecting beast would do, and roars; it's loud enough to frighten the gaudy birds from the trees and make the geese squawk back angrily. A drake wanders near; it's punted five meters away, and minus a head.

Still sodden and now very angry, he makes a beeline for the river, crashing through the undergrowth and bringing down the particularly weak saplings that had the gall to be in his way.

Water. Cool, and it's still muddy, but it's river mud and therefore acceptable. Croc settles in with his nose above water and waits for the pounding in his head to subside. That may take a while, and far longer for his temper to follow suit; pity the poor soul who ventures near!

Everyone's getting ready for the play, it seems; Aaron's done his best to pull splinters and bandage cuts, grateful that the castle saw fit to provide a tiny pot of bacitracin in one of the bathrooms. He took it and put it in his bag along with the gauze and bandages, confident in the knowledge that a new one of everything show up somewhere else soon.

But for now? He wants a break. Sleeping under the stage may be fun and familiar (sleeping under anything at any time is familiar, if not fun) but the sheer amount of people milling around the area made him...

uncomfortable. So, the next day finds him curled up with an obscenely large book on one of the dusty couches, expecting at any time to be called back to set someone's dislocated finger.

There's a particularly unusual creature in the aviary today.

The Batman isn't happy to wake up at the top of a tree surrounded by birds for many reasons, but chief among them is the fact that the birds are loud. He'd been jarred awake by a parrot screeching right near his ear and his startled motions when he'd jerked into an upright position had resulted in a massive cloud of panicked birds fleeing from the big weird animal. Naturally, they'd raised a cacophony of squawks, chirps, tweets and twittering in the process, and his ears were still ringing a little from the initial uproar.

But the bird had at least left the Batman alone up there, perched on top of a particularly thick branch several stories above the ground. The height doesn't phase him, but the fact he doesn't recognize the tree- or the massive room it seems to be in- is enough to disconcert him when the last thing he remembers is heading back to the Manor after a long night chasing down the Penguin.

He does wonder if this might be some sort of Penguin-related scheme, but even with the earlier screeching the birds don't seem hostile enough, or even that interested when he's merely sitting around and trying to get his bearings. Not to mention even Penguin wouldn't be dumb enough to leave the Batman untied.

Sitting in a tree all day isn't going to get Batman any answers of course, so he unfolds his wings and leaps off his branch, swooping in circles around the aviary and keeping an eye out for anything or anyone that might be able to shed some light on the situation.
