The gardens are growing again.

Frisk decides to leave their secret base for more than just food, for once. They'd had some Berries planted since before...the de-aging incident.

Predictably, there's not much left on their plots. A few of the Aspear plants have sprouts peeking out of the newly exposed dirt, but nothing else managed to resist the sudden icy weather. Hoenn doesn't have that kind of thing.

Sparks and Needles loiter around them when they set to their task--first, dig up the ruined berries that haven't entirely disintegrated, toss them into a box they brought out, that can be used for making mulch later. Then, just plant what they have left, which is a lot. (More than they should be able to fit into that bag, in fact.)

They're in a relatively secluded area, but it's still out in the gardens, and the claimed space they've got to fix up is huge. They won't exactly welcome visitors, but they've have their time to be angry and upset with their team...they probably won't chase anyone away.

It's been a week. Mom's not here, Leader Wattson's not here--nobody they know's here, except for Sparks, who came with them.

There's also not a lot of adults. Or people living here in this castle-palace at all.

Or a way down. They looked all the way around the castle, but there's no stairs or cable cars or anything. This must be a really far away mountain.

They're a little upset nobody told them they'd be here. (They might've cried a little, by themselves. Maybe.) But they are here, and they can't find their way home again, so this is just the start of their journey, that's all. There's so much to explore! And all this snow stuff to play with! So it's not that bad.

Shouldn't have got so mad at Sparks, they guess. It just wanted to play with everything, and nobody seems to own any of it for real--or nobody who cares enough to go find them and demand an apology, which is the same thing really.

So, naturally--to them, if nobody else--this means they're going to play with all of it, too.

And by play, they mean chuck stuff off the Edge and watch it all float through the clouds (like paper and cloth scraps) or plummet into the darker clouds below (like the cups and broken chairs and fallen branches from the garden). They've got a whole pile of stuff they gathered.

Sparks thinks they're being weird, but...

...there is something satisfying about watching things disappear like that. So he's there too, occasionally nosing a piece of something-or-other from the pile off the Edge, too.

There's a green-and-yellow something streaking through the hallways, a massive trail of silver tinsel and the smell of static following in its wake.

A few moments after that, there's the sound of someone yelling in the distance--a child.

"No! No no no no no Sparks no stop!"

Over and around one half of the Castle, the skies are filled with grey and rumbling thunder, growing greater and louder until--

Lightning explodes, throwing the edges of everything into sharp relief. Not from the sky, from a tower, the very top of one, something stands. A beast--a dog larger than any dog should be, blue and yellow, roaring a challenge at the clouds. Lightning arcs from it, back to it, and all that does is seemingly make it angrier.

If anyone comes close enough to check, that is.

If they do...

There's a familiar voice echoing through the gardens--almost. After all, Frisk's voice hasn't been loud in a long while.

"Papyrus! Papyrus? Papyrus!" What were those others called again--? "Dogs? Dogs? Papyrus! Where--are you?"

The first visible difference one might notice is a massive dog-thing walking alongside them, ears flicking. Anyone who can tear their eyes away from him will notice that this Frisk is wearing a bandanna on their head, a pair of goggles and a bland-looking necklace hanging around their throat, a bag hoisted over their shoulder, and a black ball clutched tightly in their hand.

It's a Dusk Ball, and Papyrus was supposed to be inside of it. But he's not. It's empty. They hadn't seen him get out. Where is he?

Where are they? The sight of the sky goes against everything he'd told them, that Toriel had told them. If just walking back towards the Ruins to Snowdin ("IT'S A GOOD PLACE FOR 'TRAINING'!" Papyrus said) would somehow get them out--that doesn't make any sense. None of this does.

...Finding Papyrus is the most important thing right now. So they can ask him questions. Or to make sure he isn't in trouble with Sans, or that Captain he'd been going on about.

Their Manectric partner is the only reason they aren't completely panicking--and then he freezes and turns his head with a growl. They stop too, heart hammering, peering to see what he's looking at. "Sparks...?"

Or rather, who. Seems there's someone nearby.

"Hello?"
