Today in the castle, a number of long sheets of paper have gone up in various well-trafficked locations. They all read the same:

SIGNUPS ARE HERE FOR THE GREATEST SPECTACLE THE CASTLE HAS EVER KNOWN:
THE TALE OF SIR METTATON THE MAGNIFICENT AND HIS DARING QUEST FOR ADVENTURE AND ROMANCE!!
WRITTEN BY METTATON AND RYOJI MOCHIZUKI!
WITH ACTING, SCENERY, COSTUMES, AND MORE BY YOU!!!!
SIGN UP BELOW:

A pen and inkwell have been left on a table beneath each sheet. Anyone able to read the message will note that while Ryoji's name is written in blue and in the extremely tidy script of someone who doesn't write by hand often, Mettaton's name is massive, magenta, and surrounded by hearts.

Nearby, there just might be an enthusiastic robot and/or teenager lingering to see just how this latest project of theirs is going over.

"You can, sweetheart, and you will!" Mettaton declares. "You'll be the most adorable prince around--especially if you ask your mother to make your costume. You and your brother have been looking very handsome lately, so I just know she'd make you something stunning."

Ryoji nods enthusiastically. "You'd be a perfect prince1 A very brave one, who protects the kingdom with his wisdom. I bet you could be the one that gets Sir Mettaton to go on his quest! And Mettaton is right... you'll look really cute while doing it."

"wow..."

A wise, brave, handsome prince. The lights in his eyesockets are close to glowing at the thought - the little skeleton looks enraptured at the possibility. Then all at once, he springs back into life, grabbing up the pencil and signing his name on the paper. After studious practice, he's able to sign it now in flowing Sindarin script.

"i want to be the prince! i want to be in the play!"

Adorable. Who could possibly resist that sweet little face?

"Then a prince in the play you'll be. Right, gorgeous?" He glances at Ryoji.

...My god, it’s all Ryoji can do not to scoop up the little skeleton and give him a hug. He’s just so cute when he’s happy. Those poor kids deserved to smile more often.

“You’re going to be an amazing prince. I hope I get lots of scenes with you!”
