[Open/Mingle] Friends, beauties, castle denizens, lend me your ears

Today in the castle, a number of long sheets of paper have gone up in various well-trafficked locations. They all read the same:

ATTENTION BEAUTIES OF THE CASTLE!!
SIGNUPS ARE HERE FOR THE GREATEST SPECTACLE THE CASTLE HAS EVER KNOWN:
THE TALE OF SIR METTATON THE MAGNIFICENT AND HIS DARING QUEST FOR ADVENTURE AND ROMANCE!!
WRITTEN BY METTATON AND RYOJI MOCHIZUKI!
WITH ACTING, SCENERY, COSTUMES, AND MORE BY YOU!!!!
SIGN UP BELOW:

A pen and inkwell have been left on a table beneath each sheet. Anyone able to read the message will note that while Ryoji's name is written in blue and in the extremely tidy script of someone who doesn't write by hand often, Mettaton's name is massive, magenta, and surrounded by hearts.

Nearby, there just might be an enthusiastic robot and/or teenager lingering to see just how this latest project of theirs is going over.

"Don't be shy!" Mettaton adds. "While I have a few good ideas, of course, we haven't even written the play yet. The sky's the limit, sweetheart!"

"Ohh, I want to be a hero! I want to save everyone! I could be a knight or a superhero, depending how everything turns out!"

Wait, that gives him an idea.

"Do you accept original characters?"

"Oh? If you have an idea for a character, that might help us out a lot! I know Mettaton is kind of the main hero, but I bet we could have special scenes for different knights to come in and save the day."

"He's the Absolute God of Hyperdeath! He's really strong and has a cool robe and black markings. He can shoot stars and rainbows and set things on fire, and carries swords and a big gun! He lives in outer space and he's kind and protective of those he loves, and..."

Whoops. Mettaton is supposed to be the star, not him.

"You can tone him down, if you want."

[mediadarling]

"The Absolute God of Hyperdeath, hmm?"

That sounds like a character who could upstage him if he's not careful. Then again, Asriel is only a child--he can't possibly compete with the underground's greatest star. (Only Frisk can do that.) So....

"We only have so many resources at our disposal, sweetheart, but we'll see what we can do! At the very least, we certainly have plenty of swords lying around. Why don't you see which ones would work best for your character when you have a chance?"

[justletmewin]

"Yeah! The Hypergod of Death is extremely flexible. He changes clothes to adapt to wherever he's going! Oh, I just remembered. I found this cool robe at the castle he could wear. It's too big for me, but maybe we'll figure something out! Maybe it'll fit you, Mettaton!"

[notsogrimreaper]

"Hmm... I bet the Absolute God of Hyperdeath would want to help Mettaton on his quest. Maybe he can offer Mettaton his powers, and be a wise guide for him on his journey?"

That wouldn't involve upstaging Mettaton, plus it would still be a very important and very cool role. Ryoji wants Asriel to have fun with this, after all, as much as he wants everyone to have fun.

...Still, kind of ironic that this kid is talking about his death god original character... to Death himself, but he's not going to mention that.

"Ohhh, that's perfect! The Hypergod of Death would be more than happy to let Mettaton borrow his powers!" Asriel beamed. "I can teach him magic like Shocker Breaker and Star Blazing! Those are some really cool attacks!"

What if Asriel told you he actually was the Hypergod of Death for a brief time? Except he wouldn't. Surely Ryoji didn't need to know that about him.

[mediadarling]

"They certainly sound it." Hmm...maybe Fidget could lend a paw there.

"Now, about this robe, darling--I don't suppose you could show me what it looks like, could you?"

He might need to fix it up before it's wearable, after all. A pity he's been hard pressed to find any sequins lying around....

[notsogrimreaper]

"Then it sounds like we have a plan! Though we will need to fix the robe. Maybe hem it a little... it shouldn't be too hard, though."

Ryoji will be happy to fix it up... though he may have to be convinced to use more than a generous amount of sequins.

[justletmewin]

"You want me to find it? I can go back to the castle and look for it right away!"

That might take time, considering how weird the room-shifting hallway is, but like that's going to stop him.

[mediadarling]

"It doesn't need to be right away--we won't be starting regular rehearsals for a while yet, let alone dress rehearsals," Mettaton tells Asriel before he sprints off.

He certainly looks as if he's on the verge of doing it. Not that Mettaton can fault Asriel for being excited to work with him, of course.

“Ah, yeah! Just keep an eye on it for later so we will have it when rehearsals start, that’s all. I’m just impressed you already have a costume in mind. You’ve really put a lot of thought into this character!”

So cute. Ryoji wonders for a second if Asriel played any MMOs, like the ones Junpei showed him.
