[Open/Mingle] Friends, beauties, castle denizens, lend me your ears

Today in the castle, a number of long sheets of paper have gone up in various well-trafficked locations. They all read the same:

ATTENTION BEAUTIES OF THE CASTLE!!
SIGNUPS ARE HERE FOR THE GREATEST SPECTACLE THE CASTLE HAS EVER KNOWN:
THE TALE OF SIR METTATON THE MAGNIFICENT AND HIS DARING QUEST FOR ADVENTURE AND ROMANCE!!
WRITTEN BY METTATON AND RYOJI MOCHIZUKI!
WITH ACTING, SCENERY, COSTUMES, AND MORE BY YOU!!!!
SIGN UP BELOW:

A pen and inkwell have been left on a table beneath each sheet. Anyone able to read the message will note that while Ryoji's name is written in blue and in the extremely tidy script of someone who doesn't write by hand often, Mettaton's name is massive, magenta, and surrounded by hearts.

Nearby, there just might be an enthusiastic robot and/or teenager lingering to see just how this latest project of theirs is going over.

"Frisk-darling?"

Mettaton pokes his head around the corner. That had been a familiar voice...or almost, the same way they look familiar...but not quite.

He looks them over--no scarf. Hmm....

"You wouldn't happen to be newly arrived to the castle, sweetheart, would you?"

[mercybutton]

"Oh, hi, Mettaton! Yeah, uh, I got here like... two weeks ago, I think. Maybe three." Honestly, they're not keeping track.

[notsogrimreaper]

"Oh! A new Frisk then! Sorry, I didn't realize, but now that I'm looking closer..." He trails off with a small laugh. "I'm Ryoji Mochizuki, Mettaton-san's friend. Welcome to the castle!"

ALSO IT'S OKAY YOU WERE INDECISIVE I DIDN'T MIND IN THE SLIGHTEST. <3

[mediadarling]

Mettaton, meanwhile, is too busy being astonished to notice Ryoji's introduction.

"Two or three weeks?" And he didn't notice? "Oh darling, I'm so sorry I missed you!"

He strides forward with the intent of catching them up in his arms.

AHH THANKS

[mercybutton]

"It's nice to meet you, Ry- whoa!"

They laugh, a silly thing that bubbles in the air.

"Mettaton, it's okay! Really! You don't have to apologize."

Ryoji laughs softly too, not minding that their introduction has been interrupted when Frisk and Mettaton both look so happy.

"I'm glad you met up now, at least. Any later, and I bet Mettaton would have collapsed from guilt."

Mettaton laughs as well and gives Frisk a small spin in the air before settling them on a hip. It's a bit harder to do than with his other nibling, given their size, but he manages.

"And you'd win that bet," he tells Ryoji before turning his attention to Frisk. "So how have you been--darling, did something happen to your eyes?"

He hadn't noticed until just now, but....

[mercybutton]

"H-huh? Oh, um, yeah. It's- it's been like that for a while, so don't worry about it."

And now they're bumbling around their sentences like an idiot. At least they've had lots of practice with that perfect smile.

[notsogrimreaper]

"Been like what?"

Ryoji moves a little closer to see, and can't help but gasp softly when he sees what's happened.

"Oh... I'm so sorry."

[mediadarling]

"If you say so, sweetheart," he answers and smooches their cheek. He can't help but be concerned about his darling nibling, but if they say not to worry, then he'll do his best.

"How have you been settling in? Has everyone been kind to you?"

Because if they haven't, he's going to have words.

[mercybutton]

"Don't worry," they say to Ryoji, and perhaps a little to quickly.

"Yes, I've met a lot of people! There's a lot of repeats to keep track of, but I don't mind. It's pretty annoying how the rooms keep shifting, but I'm getting the hang of it." They're seeing a few repeats in the way they move around.

[notsogrimreaper]

Ryoji will try not to show his own concern and focus on the current conversation instead.

"The shifting rooms are definitely confusing! Sometimes I can't even find my own bedroom. Maybe there's a way to mark the doors so we don't lose track of where everything is."

[mediadarling]

"Mm, that would be nice. This castle can be dreadfully inconvenient, as well as terribly decorated." Frisk doesn't need to see his face to know exactly what he thinks of that.

"Oh, but I almost forgot! Darling, you should join our play!" He gives them an extra squeeze with his arms. "It just won't be the same without you!"

[mercybutton]

Oof! Haha, even though Mettaton is made of metal, he's still pretty huggable. And hugging.

"Play? Um, I dunno… is there and roles that don't require sight?" honey you're thinking of only the actors

[notsogrimreaper]

"Oh, um! As long as we're careful and don't make you walk around too much, you should be fine! And I know Mettaton won't take no for an answer, believe me. So just leave it to us, and we can write a part that's perfect for you!"

Maybe they could be a wise oracle? A mysterious fortune teller to guide Mettaton on his quest!

[mediadarling]

"Precisely! And then of course, there's the role of sound engineer. Does that sound like something you'd be interested in, darling?" he asks.

[mercybutton]

Frisk would love to be a blind prophet whose vision was traded in to see the future. If only you'd vocalize it, Ryoji.

But sound engineer? They can do that! "Yeah! I used to play guitar, so I could probably make sure everything sounds in tune if we're gonna use instruments!" Especially since any instruments here would be old, probably.

[notsogrimreaper]

He doesn't want to be offensive! Though the mention of guitar does give him the courage to lead into it.

"That would be perfect! Actually, if you play guitar, maybe you could be a minstrel? Or an oracle, like in the myths?" He's pretty sure Ms. Toriumi told them about seers in Greek myths.

[mediadarling]

"Or you could be all of them," Mettaton adds, because why stop at one? "An oracle minstrel who's also our sound engineer!"

A brilliant idea, if he does say so himself!
