Start over, begin again
Apr. 28th, 2016 10:17 amThere's a rather unsettling sight near the lake this evening. Even though the water shouldn't connect to any rivers or any outside source, a boy has somehow washed up on its shore. He's completely drenched, winter coat clinging to his frame, hair sticking to his face. His lips are slightly blue, as if the water is much colder than it should be in late spring. The water laps around him, but he remains motionless.
...Until he coughs.
Satoru has always been a fiercely determined individual, and it seems part of him is still stubbornly clinging to the fragment of life he has left. He told the killer he wouldn't die until he saw him destroyed.
That's a promise.
After all that commotion, a castle floating in the sky is... mildly tame, for Satoru.
He's deemed that if he's going to be trapped in a fairy tale setting, he may as well enjoy it, and being such a young boy, he's enjoying it with the energy of a hummingbird high on sugar.
You may bump into a kid stacking piles of books high in the library, draping a blanket over them so he can huddle inside. You may end up rudely interrupted when the kid swings open the door to your room, bolting off with no explanation and only a quick apology.
...Or you may find him at the source of all his energy, with the candy room half-decimated and Satoru slumped on the ground in a giggly sugar coma.

Date: 2016-04-28 09:31 pm (UTC)And today, she's feeling it in the Castle.
It's like an itch, drawing her outside and toward the lake. She follows it, more than willing to spend time outside, and worried that even more drama is going to crop up while she's still busy dealing with Neil and whatever is wrong with him.
Even some distance away she sees something is different about the view. She's primed for it, and that helps, her eyes extra-focused to find something wrong. She breaks into a jog, a chill prickling on her skin, a premonition.
Then she sees a child, a young child, lying on the bank and breaks into a fill-tilt run, stopping in a slide onto her knees when she gets within range. She sees people die every day, but they are old, and lived full lives. Her mouth feels like she swallowed poison to look at the motionless body of a preteen boy. Don't you dare.
She turns him on his side, first, hoping he will cough up the water himself. If not, she has no hesitation about starting CPR. Her hand touches his throat with two fingers, looking for a pulse. She finds it, and breathes relief.
Then he breathes. A cough, then another, and water dribbles down his face. Thank god.
"Hey, that's good, keep breathing."

Date: 2016-04-28 11:03 pm (UTC)Should never have trusted him. I'm such an idiot. I'm going to die no I can't I have to stop him...
A woman's voice is somewhere floating above him, and he tries to pinpoint it. It doesn't sound like anyone he's ever heard of before. He would open his eyes to see who it is, but they feel weighted down, like every other part of his body.
So cold...
What happened?
He... Wasn't he the one that pushed me? No, that isn't it.
So many voices tangle together in his head, and he coughs up more water.

Date: 2016-05-12 06:22 pm (UTC)Eva clucks her tongue at the blue in his face. The water shouldn't be that cold! But logic seems to hold very little weight here. Carefully as she can, she tries to peel his soaked coat off his body. Keeping the cold wet fabric on him will only make him worse.
"You're going to be okay. Just keep breathing, keep coughing the water out. You need to get this wet coat off if you're going to warm up." Telling him what's happening as it goes should help, right? That's what EMTs do for conscious victims.

Date: 2016-05-14 06:36 pm (UTC)Eventually, he does start to open his eyes, squint at the woman in front of him. Definitely doesn't look like his mom... is she looking for him? She must be so worried...
One violent cough gets him to expel the rest of the water from him, and he gasps for air, numb fingers twitching and looking for warmth.

Date: 2016-04-29 01:17 am (UTC)...Or she did, until she found Sophie walking to the lake on her own. When she asked, the little girl had said she was going for a swim--which had meant Tauriel had need to follow her. Alas for her time to spare.
As she walks along, listening to Sophie's sometime conversation, she finds that there is peace in this, too. Even if she is not alone, the lake is calm and the air is sweet with the scent of water.
Then she sees the small body upon the shore. She runs.

Date: 2016-04-29 04:21 am (UTC)He can hear a child's voice. Kayo? He can almost imagine her scolding him now. He wants to reach out and hold her hand again, tell her it's okay, because this was all to protect her.
His fingers twitch, digging in the ground slightly.

Date: 2016-04-29 04:29 am (UTC)Once she reaches his side, she scoops him from the water into her arms and carries him onto the dry shore.
"Breathe, small one, breathe," she tells him, her voice a soft almost-prayer.

Date: 2016-04-29 02:52 pm (UTC)She's one of the lucky ones to catch him in a sugar coma, surrounded by sweets; she takes it on herself to go to the banquet room and full up a cup with vegetables and some sort of meat; none particularly appetizing to her, but hopefully enticing enough to the boy that he would deign to eat healthy food.
The cup is placed at the entrance of the candy room and she enters, placing herself upon his lap as if that were her newest throne.
"Hello, little one? Are you alright?"
It's okay! It happens, I'm just glad it's back <3
Date: 2016-04-30 06:52 am (UTC)"Good kitty..."
Wait a second. Did the cat... just ask if he was alright?
"See, this is why I don't eat sugar... I start seeing things."
Did I say that out loud? Ugh, sometimes dealing with your child self is frustrating...

Date: 2016-05-02 04:11 pm (UTC)On the plate by Satoru's side are parsnips and carrots-- things Duchess could grip delicately enough to carry without diveting."What is your name? And where are your parents?"
(no subject)
Date: 2016-05-02 05:17 pm (UTC)Satoru blinks a couple of times just to make sure he's not completely high on sugar, and then looks at the cat with obvious excitement. The carrots are ignored for now, though Satoru will be grateful for some actual food.
"Duchess! I'm Satoru Fujinuma. Um... I don't know if my mom is here."
His dad certainly isn't... he left when Satoru was very young, and the only father figure he has... well, he's not going to think about him.

From:(no subject)
Date: 2016-05-13 08:07 am (UTC)She's still a naturally neat child by nature - after her time in the bath house, she doesn't dare not be. And someone might need those books for something later. So she doesn't even think about it before striding into the library and making to tug the blanket off of the pile, for the sake of getting at the books.

Date: 2016-05-15 01:38 am (UTC)"Hey! Can you put that back? I was using it!"
He doesn't sound that mad, at least.
(no subject)
Date: 2016-05-16 11:03 pm (UTC)"Sorry." Obligingly, she swings the blanket back into place, tugging it this way and that until it hands as it had been before. And that might have been the end of it, except the entire course of Chihiro's life might have gone much differently if she weren't a curious person.
Slowly, she lays down on her stomach in front of the opening, peerly in thoughtfully.
"...what are you doing?"

From:finally throws the murderchild @ satoru
Date: 2016-05-21 01:09 am (UTC)More unusual is the person who opens it: Chara sits up in their bed, expecting to see Tauriel or Batman, and instead find themselves face to face with a strange, dark-haired boy. Who looks almost as startled as Chara probably does.
They don't have much time to register more than that before the boy blurts out an apology and bolts.
"Wait," Chara calls out after him. But of course, he's already out the door... which is left wide open.
Chara scrambles to their feet, pausing only to nab a wooden spoon from the soup they've left untouched by their bed, then dashes out the door and down the staircase, after the boy.
The whole situation seems unreal- they've been trapped up there for so long, even the plain stairs leading up to the tower room seem like a foreign country, and the sense of freedom leaves them feeling lightheaded.
Too lightheaded: they're barely out the door before they abruptly find themselves collapsing to the ground with an audible thump.
hi murderchild do you want me to kill someone before i can be your friend i'm used to that
Date: 2016-05-23 05:47 pm (UTC)He turns in surprise and audibly gasps to see the kid's predicament, rushing over to their side to check them over for injuries.
"Hey! Are you okay?"
(no subject)
Date: 2016-06-21 02:13 am (UTC)It takes a few moments for Chara's thoughts to resettle: They can hear Satoru's voice, and see him hovering over them, but he seems far away and unreal at first. And they can tell they're on the floor and there's this strange boy there, but... it's like their sense of reality has to catch up to their other senses, before they can work out that they aren't in the middle of a dream.
Chara licks their lips- as best they can, their mouth is hideously dry- before slowly saying, "I believe I fainted. A little."
Because they were leaving their tower, finally. At that thought they hasten to drag themselves into a sitting position. They can't just lie about on the floor and wait until one of their guards finds them!

From:also throws the dweeb @ satoru hope ur not scared of monsters kid
Date: 2016-05-27 02:01 am (UTC)The Batman moves down the hallway, finds the door to the candy room, and opens it.
Then he blinks. It seems like half the candy from the room is gone, and the cause of the rampant destruction is a young boy slumped over on the floor. For a brief alarmed second he thinks the child's about to throw up, but no- he just seems to be overly giggly at the moment.
Satoru will thus be able to see a giant bat-like person standing in the doorway of the room, looking at him with raised eyebrows. "Enjoying yourself?" the Batman asks.
he's not afraid of no bat! except he is omg
Date: 2016-05-29 08:02 pm (UTC)He's still giggling through a sugar coma, sucking on a cinnamon heart in the process, when he hears a voice from the doorway. He forces himself up to answer... and then he sees the stranger clearly, and sees that he is apparently a giant bat. Satoru gapes at him. Rubs his eyes and blinks a few times. Gapes again.
"This is a really weird dream," he finally decides.
(no subject)
Date: 2016-08-05 01:07 am (UTC)He steps into the room, a little gingerly. The floor's mostly made out of stripes of colorful hard candy, which is just sticky enough to be unpleasant to walk on with bare feet. (He hopes everybody here has enough sense not to try eating the floor.)
Moving a bit to the side, so he's not blocking the doorway, the Batman gives Satoru an assessing glance. The boy is quite young to Batman's eyes, younger than Robin, probably, but he looks a few years older than Sophie, and likely Frisk as well.
"You're new here," he comments.
