They'd expected to find Lucas once they'd caught the scent--they'd quite enjoyed his stew, even though it was fairly simple. Thoughts of snatching a few bites again disappear at the sight of Sans--and of the stove left unattended.
Careful, Frisk steals in. They'd normally wake him up, but he needs that sleep, they're sure.
So instead they start poking around the stove. How can they turn it down? They've never even touched such an old-fashioned one before.
