Well, this is just going from bad to worse. His one - his first big chance to impress a human, and now they're terrified of him!
"Shhh, shshsh..." He looks around quickly, hoping no one's coming to investigate. Most monsters aren't clear on what a human even looks like, but if they run into someone who does know... well. He'd rather not dwell on it.
How to calm them down, though...?
Hm. Well, there's one way. He takes a breath - not strictly necessary, but it helps to set the tone - and starts to sing, improvising new lyrics to that one soft romantic tune he's been working on. This isn't how he expected his first performance for a human audience to go, but if it helps -
"Human child, please don't you cry. You'll be fine, so dry those eyes.
Though you're scared and all alone, I will help to guide you home..."
...not that he has any idea how to do that, but he'll figure something out.
