He nods at her in acknowledgement of the introduction, but makes no move to introduce himself. She hasn't asked, and so he assumes that she doesn't care. Or that she knows already. Most of the people who are around him on a daily basis know what he is, after all.
"what did he say it would help with?" He probably shouldn't ask. It probably doesn't matter. Such information isn't often offered to him, beyond the fact that this test is "necessary" or this procedure will "help". But if she's willing to offer the information, and she doesn't look strong enough to punish him if he steps out of line...
