A couple bites is, however, exactly what they need - for a moment they thought the dog would cut it in one go like the large wolf, but that it doesn't gives them enough time to try a strategy.
They jab again, still aiming for an eye, but watching the dog's mouth carefully. As soon as it's open to bite the stick, they're trying to thrust the flaming end of the torch right down its throat.
