The not-monster rears up, and Chara readies the dagger to throw, expecting those claws to swipe at them. Instead...
...there's a sound. It reminds them of the illusion-Toriel's roar, but louder, echoing in the small space, the boom of thunder undercutting it. All the blood rushes out of their face.
There's no thought involved, it's like it goes straight to their legs without involving their brain. They *Flee, the only direction allowed. Upwards.
When they're in the small room, slamming the door shut behind them and leaning their weight on it, chest heaving, rationality bleeds in. Stupid, stupid Chara. Had to go up the stairs instead of down the stairs. Got overconfident. They've trapped themself. They slide the bolt (metal, again) and start rapidly casting around the tower room for anything they can use.
*! *Chara, I think I know what it is! *I don't remember this one exactly... but it's electric type. *So... throw rocks at it?
There is a sad deficit of free stone in this room, Frisk, despite masonry surrounding them. They end up pulling one of the banners off the wall, shaft and cloth and all.
