Yukio can see that shock and anxiety, and for a brief moment, he’s relieved before he feels disgusted with himself. He doesn’t want to upset Kotetsu, even if seeing him so hurt is proof he probably didn’t mean to hurt him. No one could fake a reaction like that, right?
Kotetsu speaks up, and he gasps softly. Just hearing that voice reminds him of all the awful things that were said, the way he smiled despite spitting insults at himself and others. But he doesn’t quite sound the same. The tone is different, so he nods.
“I’m Yukio, right. And, um, I’m okay. Are… are you better now?”
He swallows and averts his gaze to the floor. He doesn’t exactly know how to go about asking if Kotetsu is alive now without it sounding weird and adding unwanted emphasis on his abilities to see that sort of thing.
