Chara wants to hide. They want to curl up in a corner and just stay there, alone, until they die of starvation (can skeletons even do that?). That would be ideal. Just. They do not want to meet anyone, at all, any more, today, or maybe ever.
So of course, they run into him again.
Their steps slow, turn into as quiet a padding towards him as much as they can manage with bare boned feet - quiet rasps they internally wince at. They slowly draw their weapon as they do - a stick that has had the tip broken off. Doesn't matter what it is. Anything can work against a monster.
Frisk won't forgive them if they kill, but they are done with that, right now. If they strike him from behind they can cut things short right now.
