There's something there in Toshi's discomfort. It could simply be that Mettaton is hovering too close, and so he pulls back a little. But, then again, it might not be.
Still, it's rude to pry--at least until you know someone a bit better than this. He'll keep that reaction tucked away in the back of his mind for now.
