Toshi dreams of an alternate reality where he is simply Kotetsu's quieter, weirder twin bother. How much more simple and less painful both of their lives would be. That isn't a lie he could keep up with, even if he tried to use it to spare the confused man the truth, though. He's too obviously not human. Only a thin layer of synthetic exists between the world and his robotics.
Something painful, like a short circuit, sparks in him at the way Kotetsu reacts to his eyes. He really doesn't know him... and clearly is uncomfortable with androids. Toshi tries to recall his other interactions. The details are fuzzy, but he recalls them not being positive. He hates that he suddenly represents an apparent trigger for Kotetsu.
He can tell a forced smile on his model a mile away. Good try, Kotetsu. He starts with a noncommittal sound. It very well could be his fault. He's tasked to protect you. Not that you remember. The android lifts a hand to rub at his brow. A very oddly human expression of emotion. "I hope for your sake that isn't true..."
Then he realizes he said that out loud, and stops himself. "Short version, I'm an android and I'm your friend. I was built using the Brooks' Artificial Intelligence system." That's a very, very sort version.
