antitemporal: Sans-Serif, so surprised at his mistake that his eyesockets have gone dark (Stunned silence)
From: [personal profile] antitemporal
The nearest prison from Tauriel's position just happens to be S-4's. It's to that pod that Gaster first starts to move. After all, at first he assumes that the banging he hears must be coming from S-4. It's earlier than he'd expect his younger creation to be awake, but it wouldn't be the first time S-4 has proven livelier than he's expected. He moves without any acknowledgement of Tauriel's presence, intent on checking on his creations.

But halfway across the floor, his gaze meets Sans-Serif's, he sees that his first creation's eyesockets are open for the first time in weeks. And not just open - bright. No longer empty. Gaster gasps aloud, so surprised that he nearly drops the bundle of papers and clipboard in his arms. Hastily recovering most of it, he hastens to stand before the smaller skeleton's pod instead. "Sans-Serif? Are you awake? Can you hear me?" He rests a hand against the glass, peering in with no small amount of concern, but also a flare of hope as well.

Meanwhile, once Serif notices that Tauriel is here, in the lab, his attention is entirely focused on her. His soul feels as though it's burning with relief, warmth suffusing his bones that's better than any relief the stasis fluid could possibly bring. He waves to try to get her attention before he realizes that she's going for his brother instead. That's okay, she'll let S-4 out and then she'll let Serif out and...

And then Gaster is right there, looking in at him. Serif flinches back as much as the liquid will allow, opening his mouth in a gasp that doesn't come. Gaster. Gaster was nice. But would he have stayed nice?

...now, it seems, he has to find out.

But Serif does remember that Gaster is the only one who can properly empty the pods - or at least, he's the only one who ever does. Swallowing down the rush of fear and dread the best he can, he taps his palms against the glass once more, this time in a silent request to be let out. It only takes Gaster a minute to understand. Then he nods, and beams in evident delight at even this much communication before he bends to his work draining the pod. "My word, what a wonderful surprise..."
