The cat's so close now, it's really automatic for Chara to reach out, stroking Duchess's soft fur with an unusual amount of care for Chara. They don't feel like risking a scratching right now.
Hmm. Would they mind if the cat came to visit sometimes? More to the point, how would their guards feel about it? Chara's sure their guards aren't always comfortable with the people who stop by to speak to Chara.
Not that they're wrong in that. If Duchess knew just why Chara was here, she'd probably change her tune.
"If you really have nothing better to do," they say at last. "I'm afraid I'm a lousy host."
