[Open] Unreasonable Behaviour

A . (for your character to end up a snack or escape and spread the word; indicate which in your subject line!)

He’s found the underwater lake. It’s nice, for the most part, but just like the fish in the river the fare is disappointingly slimy and unappetizing. Seeing as he hasn’t found the kitchen yet (a shame!)  he turns to the next source of food—those wandering about the castle. The first to go is a small white cat lazing about on a chair; tufts of fur remain on the floor, and he continues on. The castle is large enough to  send him on af ew circles; but finally, he sees someone down a hall, and makes his lumbering way towards them.

B. (for your character to lay a beatdown on Croc, or for Croc to lay a beatdown on your character….)

He takes to roaming the halls during the night. It’s quieter, the birds are asleep, he has free rein; it’s daresay, nice. He’s still angry. It bubbles up in his chest like a red foam, leads to clawmarks being engraved in the stone, chairs turned on their head or otherwise made into splinters.

Croc is a simple man, sometimes. Sometimes he likes to scheme and plot, and finds himself quite adept at that! Other times… well, other times, someone’s just gotta get their head caved in. Said someone is going to find a big, scaled surprise in the library.

Chara is good at being quiet. It's a vital skill in many situations, such as "sneaking into a library at night because you're bored and maybe there won't be anyone here this late."

No such luck; when they got there, there were already numerous signs of a struggle. Shelves tipped over, monstrous claw marks in the furniture and floor, a sadly discarded hat (now deposited in Chara's inventory for safekeeping) and further into the library, something thumping along.

Chara creeps slowly towards the source of the noise, occasionally inspecting the debris around them. Somebody doesn't have much respect for literacy.

Eventually, the sound leads out into the hallway. Chara peeks around the corner of the door, and it takes them a split-second to take in the scene: Big scary monster, tiny child with obviously no dodging experience. Ugh, this is going to be painful to watch.

And thus, Chara's impatient voice breaks through the air:

"Down and sideways!"

Down goes the claw, but Chara's voice reaches Yukio just in time. He may not look like a child with dodging experience, but he at least has some beginner's training in fighting, enough for him to know that when someone yells an order, he follows it.

With a small noise, he ducks down to the ground and staggers to the side, just clearing the claw in time. Immediately, Yukio turns his head towards where the voice came from and runs towards it. Whoever they are, they should be able to help him, right?

The monster's bellowing echoes through the halls and rings in Chara's ears. They scurry backwards, not sure if the monster intends to go after them, or the kid, and feel their heel hit something solid. Chara moves their foot, ascertaining that it's a thick book- it must have slid across the floor when one of the bookcases got knocked over- and bends to scoop it up. More useful than a spoon, hopefully. Although that depends. It could be a normal monster, or it could be like the elf.

Out in the hall, the monster has gotten onto all fours. Chara thinks of dust and bruises and lectures and bile, summoning up as much hate as they can in a split-second, and darts forward. With a determined swing of their arms, they hurl the book as hard as they can in the direction of the monster.

They don't wait to see if it hits or if it does much or if the kid survives. Once the book leaves their hands, Chara twists on their heels and bolts further into the library.

Yukio looks between the two of them, but Croc is much more important at this point. He has to get away. He scrambles to try to hide behind one of the bookshelves, just in time to see a book whiz past his face and the other child to go hide in the shadows of the library.

Fair enough. They should probably take their chance to escape. He won’t lead Croc towards them, instead heading off in the opposite direction to hopefully gain some distance and meet with the other kid later.

D8 Please stop his flesh is not tasty.

Yukio does not think of himself as a prize. He’s a scared little kid in way over his head, facing a monster instead of just a hobgoblin. He’s used to having his glasses stomped on or his clothing torn, not… not getting eaten. He yelps as books fall on top of him, tripping him up. He stumbles to his knees but tries to crawl behind a fallen bookcase. Maybe if he’s fast enough and quiet enough, he can stay hidden…

Chara meanwhile is moving more on instinct than anything else.

The library has multiple levels- Chara heads to the nearest spiral staircase and sprints up two floors, then runs beside the balcony railing until they're a reasonable distance from the stairs.

Their pulse pounding in their head, Chara leans against a nearby bookshelf to catch their breath, and squints out into the dimness of the library. Has the kid been eaten yet...?
tinyprotector: (and some hot cocoa)

The kid hasn't been eaten yet, but he's quickly on his way there. He screams as splinters rain down on him, but his scream is rapidly cut off by claws around his neck.

He kicks his legs desperately, scratches at Croc's hands with his fingernails, but it's hopeless. He's going to die and he should have known he would in this place full of demons...
