[mingle] what's the dream and what's the reality?

Lately the castle's nights have been very clear and almost warm, even up so high among the clouds as they are. But regardless of the weather, they are generally peaceful nights, and few things seem to stir during them...apart from the castle's inhabitants, be it with late-night roving or with sleep. The dreams, by extension, are at least undisturbed...if maybe not always pleasant. That sort of thing tends to vary by the person, of course.

But now--and for several nights, consecutively--the castle residents may find their dreams starting to take on stranger shapes: memories they've never had, friends that don't usually arrive, strangers they've never seen. These odd impressions might cling and continue to confuse even upon waking, vivid as they were; was it really just a dream, or maybe something more...? Does that newcomer in your dream remember you there too, in the daytime?

Either way, there seems to be an strange energy in the air during these nights. And it's bringing dreams together.

((ooc: And here's the catch-all post for the dream-sharing event! Feel free to top-level with your character's dreams here, or thread around in others! The event should only last about a week, but backtagging is eternal c: The ooc planning post can be found here!))

they have reasons

"Of course I do," they say. Their grin's been replaced with a hint of a glower. "But I don't need them when I've got my cell phone."

Batman's probably had to hold onto people and things that very much don't want to be held before. Add this small child to the list, 'cause now they're struggling, trying to worm their way out of his arms.

"Let go, just want to follow!"

"And how was I supposed to know that?" Batman asks. He makes an exasperated face at Frisk, though it might be hard for Frisk to notice while the two of them are wheeling their way through the air.

They're definitely going to have their work cut out for them, because Batman very determinedly clutches them towards him. "You've picked a bad night for it," he says. "I have business to attend to."

"...I don't know," they concede after a moment of reflection. "But you know now. So let go anyway."

They spread their arms like they're going to fly out of his arms, though they don't manage to. "What business? Bat-business?"

And the Batman continues to fail to let go of Frisk, although at least he slows into a leisurely glide down towards the roof of a nearby apartment complex.

"Penguin business, actually," he says. "I'll let you go when we land, but you can't follow me, got it?"

"...but penguins can't fly." Why is he flying to find penguin business?

Frisk looks quite contrary. "I want to help." With whatever he's up to. "I don't have anywhere else to go," they add.

"This one can. Until you take away his umbrella, anyway." Perfectly reasonable, right?

The Batman gives Frisk a concerned look, then drops onto the roof of the apartment building. The roof is covered with various enormous puddles of water, and Batman has to look around to find a dry spot to put Frisk down on.

"You could stay with Alfred," he suggests, still glancing about. "He'd keep you safe."

Noooooo. They don't quite say this aloud, but it's communicated quite well in how they stubbornly slip out of his arms.

Literally. Like he's trying to hold onto a big ol' pile of slime, or Clayface, maybe. Except they're back to normal as soon as they land in one of those puddles, which are all about knee deep and soaks them to the bone when they splash down. Whatever.

"Maybe I can meet him later. I can keep me safe," they insist from their puddle seat.

Indignation briefly flashes across Batman's face, just before Frisk lands in the puddle. The splash hits the Batman, enough to leave his legs wet. Great. Why does this kid have to be so stubborn?

"Can't keep yourself dry, though," he says. His legs are wet already so he sits down on the edge of the puddle Frisk is sitting in, letting his legs dangle in the water. It feels nicer when he's not being suddenly sprayed with it. "And what if you got shot?"

"I don't mind. It isn't a swamp. Could use more flowers."

They shove their arms through the water, aiming to splash him again.

"Then I'd redo it. Just like if the time ran out and my jetpack broke." Duh.

andthebat: (Fuzzy - Dubious)

"You don't get flowers on a roof-" the Batman says, then flicks up a wing to block the water splash. He can still feel the water sliding down his wing, like a secondary arm that is hideously misshapen, but it's better than getting roof water in the eyes.

"Sounds fishy," he replies, and he reaches into the puddle to splash Frisk back.

"Rooftop gardens!" they shrill, standing up and bouncing--they're nearly getting themselves soaked as much as a splash would.

Speaking of gardens, there's definitely some kind of grass growing at the bottom of those puddles.
