Look at me still talking when there's science to do (Open Post)

Sans is starting to get a handle on this place. Perhaps more to the point, and more potentially useful, is that he's started to get a handle on its inhabitants. There are a few that he keeps a personal eye on on a semi-regular basis, even if they don't always know it. The rest, he's just made note of their passage and their movements. It's all for professional purposes, of course.

And that means that, when he's finally ready to do so, Sans can make contact with every person currently in the castle, either in-person if he knows them by name or by leaving a note somewhere they'll see it if he doesn't yet. Whether by spoken or written word, the message is nevertheless always the same. It's a request to meet him in the ballroom with the cakes table at a certain time and place. From his observations, it seems to be one of the more stable rooms in the castle, so everyone should be able to find it. 

On the stated day, at the stated time, everyone will...still have to wait five minutes for Sans to pull himself together after a nap, remember what he's supposed to be doing, and suddenly appear inside the room, still in the process of hastily smoothing out his notecards. 

"so, uh, yeah," he says, looking from the assembled residents to the cards and back again. "should probably explain what you're all doing here. so. i'm sure you've all noticed that this castle has got some weird things going on, above and beyond the whole, uh...stealing us from across time and space thing. i'm also assuming that most of you want to go home and won't mind helping me figure out a way to get us there." He gestures at the table. "to do that, i'm gonna need to start testing some of these theories. guesswork is fun, but it doesn't get us anywhere. timing how long it takes this place to reset something seems like a good start. and so this particular experiment runs as cleanly as possible, uh...i'm gonna need your help eating everything on that table. like, all of it. just don't choke on any shiny bits." 

Message delivered, Sans crams the notecards back in his pocket, and spreads his arms in silent indication for everyone to dig in.

"Oh... you didn't have to do that, but I would like to try some things with you... Thank you."

He nods at her question. As much as he's glad everyone's having fun at the party, he thinks he'd rather have some quiet time to himself. Maybe someday he'll be confident enough to mingle properly, but not so shortly after coming into existence.

"You're very welcome, dear."

She sits down on the floor with her back to the tables and makes herself comfortable, then places the plate in between them. There. That's a little cosier.

He looks over the plate carefully, trying to determine what he wants to try first. It all looks so good, but he should probably be nice and let Grune make the decision.

"What... do you like the best?"

[lostinmyway]

"Oh, I like everything the best!" she answers right away, unaware that this is not a particularly helpful answer.

[systematicsupport]

"Oh. But, um, what would you like to try first?"

If he asks it in a better way, maybe he'll get an answer. He didn't mean to get so confusing!

"Hmm.... Let's try this one!"

She reaches for a slice of cherry loaf, then breaks it in half and offers a portion to S-4.

S-4 carefully takes the piece and looks it over for a moment, and then takes a bite. Oh. It's not as sweet as some of the other cakes here, but it's soft and chewy and very nice anyways. It doesn't take him long to take another bite, and another.

She watches him eat, beaming away. "Do you like it?"

"It's nice. I like it a lot."

He swallows down the last of it (where does it even go? He doesn't have a stomach) and grins back at her.

Seeing him look so happy makes her even happier!

"Here." She holds out her own piece. She'd been too busy watching him eat to have even a nibble. "You can have mine, too!"

"Oh. N-No, that's okay. I still need to try everything else, and you should get to eat too..."

He likes Grune too much to steal her share of things when it's clear she likes the sweets too.

[lostinmyway]

"Hmm.... All right." She can always get him more cherry cake later.

She breaks off a small piece and pops it in her mouth. She hums quietly. It's so good!

"It sounds like you like it a lot too!"

S-4 chuckles softly at her humming. It's almost as good to see someone enjoy food as it is to enjoy it yourself.

She beams at the sound of his laughter. "Oh, yes. It's delicious!"

With her free hand, she picks up a cherry brownie and holds it out to him. "Would you like to try this one?"

"Yes, please!"

This one looks like it's chocolate, and he's found that he very much enjoys the taste of chocolate. He takes a bite... and then immediately shoves the whole thing into his mouth. That must have been good.

His enthusiasm makes her giggle. "Is that one your favourite?"

[systematicsupport]

"Um... I don't know. Chocolate is really good. And this was really good too. But I haven't tasted everything yet."

So how can he say for sure its his favourite?

That makes sense. She nods. "We'll just have to keep on trying until we find your very favourite!"
