They keep hitting escape, but they're still here. If being outside space and time means you can never be touched or hurt again... it's a tempting thought. A very tempting one. Their smile becomes sour and rictus at his next words.

No. His compassion on someone else's behalf makes them feel sick and angry and aching - inexplicably wounded, and they hate it, that part of them that thinks 'what makes Frisk so special?'. Why does Frisk get the apology, when Gaster hasn't even done anything to them? But they already know, don't they? They're the demon. They exist to cause and accept pain. They don't even like apology.
