The monster's bellowing echoes through the halls and rings in Chara's ears. They scurry backwards, not sure if the monster intends to go after them, or the kid, and feel their heel hit something solid. Chara moves their foot, ascertaining that it's a thick book- it must have slid across the floor when one of the bookcases got knocked over- and bends to scoop it up. More useful than a spoon, hopefully. Although that depends. It could be a normal monster, or it could be like the elf.
Out in the hall, the monster has gotten onto all fours. Chara thinks of dust and bruises and lectures and bile, summoning up as much hate as they can in a split-second, and darts forward. With a determined swing of their arms, they hurl the book as hard as they can in the direction of the monster.
They don't wait to see if it hits or if it does much or if the kid survives. Once the book leaves their hands, Chara twists on their heels and bolts further into the library.
there's tons of free cake in the ballroom dude.
