The door not having bars to peek through is bit of a mixed blessing, Chara decided. On one hand, this could be a trick, though they had no reason to think it might be. On the other, actually seeing themself, in the flesh, would've been... disorienting. As if they didn't already question reality and whether or not they were actually a part of it. Really, it's for the best they met in prison, and not suddenly having a mirror shoved in front of yourself in a time and place where you're vulnerable. Now that they think of it, would this alternate version of them think the same way they do? If they could actually see them from the other side of the door, would the other Chara also freeze and feel themself being pulled away from their own body? Would they find themself floating from above observing the two of them just standing there and staring at each other?

Chara doesn't remember what they sounded like younger. All they know is this voice is different from theirs.

"I won't pretend I know your situation, and I'm not going to bother giving you pity. I'm here because I had to know if you're another version of me. I am Chara. If the castle isn't lying, you are too." Welp, not the best way to go about it. Might as well get it over with though.
