We're not even supposed to hurt criminals, if we can help it. It had its problems, but...it was still a pretty safe place to be." Even if it had turned out to be safe for all the wrong reasons.
"But you, I can tell you're...used to this. And I guess I just didn't realize until now how dangerous this place really is."
A man burned to death in his arms, once. He never even knew the man's name. Nathan still almost didn't let him go home alone that day, though.
"There were days where I even let myself hope my daughter would come here, too." He'll never make that wish again.
