Tauriel cannot say she is comfortable with this. To bring her children into the room wherein the instruments of Sans' torment are held...she shivers with the wrongness.

Yet she does not think they would obey should she forbid them from entering. The best she can do, then, is to stay with them at all times, watching so that they do not come to harm.
